Celia
Today, Sis Celia is planning to take you to Yunlin County to wander around the rustic and captivating Er] Township. Speaking of recent trends, no matter where you go — east, west, south, or north — painted villages have been popping up like mushrooms after rain, each with its own unique charm. And yes, a family trip to a sugar factory is also a great choice.

As for me, Sis Celia (brushing my bangs)~ I’ve pretty much conquered painted villages from the south to the north. Some might not think much of it, saying that many of these villages’ murals aren’t really related to the actual villages. But for me, every painted village is an opportunity to experience what the locals want to convey to travelers — and I always get immersed in that joyful atmosphere. So, where am I heading today? I’m taking you all to the ns Village community painted village in Er] Township, Yunlin. Unlike other painted villages that mainly feature anime and cartoon characters, ns Village is seriously trying to carve out its own unique style of painted art~ (though there’s still a small section with basic cartoon elements...). Why do I say that? Because ns Village used to be a sugarcane transfer station for the sugar factory, so it has a deep connection with the narrow-gauge railway. But as the sugar industry changed, the small trains stopped running through this little town, leaving only some railway tracks behind to remind people of its past.
But the thoughtful residents of ns Village didn’t just leave it at that. They turned the area into a scenic park, and then used the 4-meter-high wall of the local farmers’ association warehouse to create a series of 3D railway culture murals. Hehehe, and that’s exactly what drew me to this lovely little town... Wow, before diving into today’s main topic, a quick reminder: the whole ns Village is covered in murals, mainly divided into three areas...
Area One: The Railway Scenic Park and 3D Railway Culture Murals
Area Two: Along the walls near the Fuxing Temple (Land God Temple)
Area Three: The ns Village Community Activity Center in Er] Township
And if you really can’t find them, don’t worry — the locals are super friendly. Just ask around, and they’ll be happy to show you the way. No more chit-chat — let’s follow Sis Celia as we dive into this nostalgic vibe blending railway culture with amazing 3D art. Let’s GOOOO!!
Recommended Reading: Basically, finding ns Village isn’t hard — just ask a local, XDD Okay, fine, I admit my family got a bit lost, but after going left and right, hahaha, we finally found ns Village. So yeah, it’s really not that hard to find. Just head along County Road Yun 31 toward County Road 156 — you’ll find it around the 16 km mark.
The railway charm of ns Village — wow, just hearing it sounds so atmospheric. Alright, let’s stroll through this scenic park and soak in the railway vibes of ns Village. Look — right at the starting point, I suggest travelers pause for a moment to check out the tourist map. It’ll help make your railway adventure go smoothly. Yes, right in front of us is the 4-meter-high farmers’ association warehouse wall, now transformed into a spectacular 3D railway culture mural. It’s truly impressive when you see it in person. Uh-oh, that guy Martin is making Sis Celia compete with that youthful, gorgeous girl over there — oh my, how embarrassing >///< (…..who even cares!). And these vibrantly local-themed painted walls were created by two local Yunlin artists, brothers Liao Yaoxing and Liao Huicun. They feature colorful paintings depicting local rural characteristics and railway culture related to the most representative Erzai community.Haha, look at this 3D effect created by visual illusion—see, I’m pulling a water buffalo forward, how fun…Don’t ask me to make silly faces, okay… I mean, I have my pride to maintain~ (Sigh, where does this confidence even come from??) Of course, you can also stand on the platform steps and take photos to capture some unique and unforgettable memories of this small town.Although interacting with these 3D animals is really fun, don’t be fooled by how easily Sister Xi smiles and gently touches the dog’s head — hey…? this 3D is actually flat, flat, flat @@ So I had to half-squat pretending to sit on a chair, while Martin kept looking for the right angle. I know I was forcing a smile, but my legs were shaking like crazy….. Phew, after finishing the interaction with the artworks in Zone Two, we headed straight to Zone Three to see what else there was to enjoy.
‘Er] Township ns Village Community Activity Center’ Mural Art
Hahaha, I can definitely say I had an amazing time on this trip. The floor of the activity center is covered in 3D artworks — super fun. Look, there's a crocodile with its mouth wide open under the whitewater rafting scene. Should you go down or not? Alright, lastly, let’s say goodbye after taking a photo with that village chief who’s clearly got some very obvious product placement going on. The journey is coming to an end — did everyone have a good time today? I sincerely recommend this wonderful ns Village. Set aside some time and bring your family for a visit — it’ll definitely offer a fresh and unique experience. Sharing is caring.
