It was scorching hot on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year—felt just like summer. It’s incredibly rare to catch a weekend when Dr. Lin is free at home and the weather is this nice. So the whole family decided to head out to Dagou Stream, a place we’ve wanted to visit for ages. Anyway, this trip to Dagou Stream was Dr. Lin’s idea—I’m so excited about it!

The “Dagou Stream Eco Water Management Park” is located at the very end of Dahushan Villa Street. Parking is extremely difficult nearby on holidays, and the road is quite narrow. Even though it’s very close to home, we opted to take a taxi to save the hassle.

At the entrance to the trail, several owls welcome everyone. It’s said that each owl has a different expression, but I didn’t have time to take a closer look because...

Some people couldn’t wait and dashed right in!

Near the entrance, there’s a stone table area where it’s quite nice to have some tea and chat. Next time, let’s get grandma and grandpa to join us too.

The sun was shining brightly that day. When I saw the beautiful scenery, I couldn’t help but exclaim—it felt like I’d suddenly arrived at Qingjing Farm. I haven’t been to many farms, but it just gave off the vibe of a mountain farm.

I never expected such a great place nestled against mountains and water in this urban jungle of Taipei City. Even better, it’s so close to home. So happy. (By the way... it was short-sleeve weather in mid-February, then just two days later it got freezing cold at 9°C. Is the world ending?)

The main goal of this trip was to let Kuankuan see a small stream, so we headed toward the water first.

The city kid saw a small stream for the first time and was super curious!

The sunlight was amazing!

We walked all the way up to the end, where the water was almost still—perfect for Kuankuan, who’s really afraid of water, to have his first water-stomping experience. The sunlight was gentle.

Kuankuan, who’s super afraid of water, took forever just to pull his pants up to his knees. Thanks to patient Dr. Lin guiding him, he finally stepped into the water. Look how happy this kid is—you told him it would be fun!

After playing for about five minutes, he was finally able to stand and play on his own without holding Daddy’s hand, but he insisted on staying on the steps and wouldn’t go any deeper. No problem, it’s so close—we’ll take it slow.

After that, I took Bobi toward the grassland area—the scenery was picturesque.

We laid out a picnic mat, and the sociable Bobi was absolutely delighted.

Later, Dr. Lin came over with Kuankuan. In the photo, you can see a hardworking mom helping her son—who refused to strip down in broad daylight—get changed. Fortunately, I brought a big towel.

Around 5 PM in the evening, the wind started picking up, so we rolled up the mats and headed home, wrapping up this refreshing little outing.
