Cherry blossoms are in full bloom, making spring the perfect time for an outdoor adventure with your kids. In recent years, the area has developed rich tourism resources and become a top hot spring destination for domestic travelers. At the lush, green "Tanggouwei Hot Spring Park," you can enjoy free foot soaking. Nearby, there are several Japanese-style forest hot springs, and the streets come alive at night with open-air performance stages.

Nearby attractions: Longtan Lake Scenic Area, Xietian Temple, and Wufengqi Waterfall are ideal stops on your travel itinerary. Jiaoxi’s downtown offers plenty of delicious street food—smashed steamed buns, post office scallion pancakes, Yishunxuan custard rolls, fish soup, and foot-soaking ramen—all spots where parents can easily explore with their kids without needing a car.
Parent-child strolls through flower fields – A mini floral artist adventure in Yilan

This time, I brought my family along. Parents only need to pack light, take a bus to the old Jiaoxi Station, and get to the hotel Up in just three minutes.

Drivers will find convenient parking available.

For those taking public transport, there’s a free shuttle bus to and from the bus station for easy access.

"Just Sleep Hotel by Shangri-La - Yilan Jiaoxi Branch" launches various family-friendly activities each season. Kids can freely choose dried flowers to decorate their rooms using seasonal blooms, and the package also includes special DIY crafts, ensuring families head home with wonderful memories.

Facilities at "Just Sleep Hotel by Shangri-La - Yilan Jiaoxi Branch": Open-air hot spring (includes children’s pool; swimsuits required) / Large bathing area / Grandma’s Stationery Shop / Traditional Games Room / Nursery / Free tea and snacks served in the lobby.

The hotel offers a truly welcoming experience. From check-in to room service, the professionalism is top-notch. If you arrive early, your luggage will be taken to your room. Staff pay close attention to guests’ needs and are proactive in offering assistance. Rooms are accessed via keycard entry. During this stay, I experienced the "Tao – Japanese-Style Room" (quad occupancy), which was fully equipped with all necessary amenities.

The room was about 30 square meters, featuring two medium-sized beds (suitable for two adults and two children). If the pillows feel too soft, you can switch to firmer ones. The beds use internationally renowned temperature-sensitive plastic mattresses (Suly Bedding)—not overly soft but extremely comfortable—definitely more than just "Just Sleep" worthy.

This room type can accommodate a baby crib but does not offer extra beds. For those traveling with grandparents or larger families, consider the "n Japanese-Style Room" (approx. 60 sqm, four beds—two connecting rooms suitable for 6–8 people, perfect for family/friends trips). For small families with two adults and one child, the hotel’s March 2016 family package includes the "Pei – Japanese-Style Room" (approx. 23 sqm), currently available at a surprise rate.

This experience was in a quad room—perfectly cozy and lovely for two adults and one child.

Each floor has water dispensers, and rooms provide a variety of tea bags, coffee, and cute mugs. Private bathrooms ensure kids won’t slip on wet floors. Power outlets include both 220V and 110V options, and the HVAC system keeps room temperatures stable—even after a hot spring soak.

The room includes an in-room hot spring tub, so the whole family can enjoy soaking without leaving the room. Kids will definitely have a blast—bring some small water toys if you like. Even without swimwear, you can still enjoy the therapeutic waters.

Parents can truly relax—no worries about jewelry discoloration, and kids won’t have allergic reactions either.

No need to travel to Japan—the hotel thoughtfully provides a set of yukata (Japanese robes) and slippers for the whole family, so everyone can comfortably enjoy the facilities.

The family pool accommodates four people and is very spacious. Its tiered design makes entering and exiting safe, and the non-slip mosaic flooring ensures kids can walk around securely.

The open-air hot spring (including children’s pool; swimsuits required): For families with young children, don’t forget to ask the front desk for inflatable floaties of various shapes. On mild spring evenings, soaking while stargazing is incredibly romantic. Towels and showerheads are provided nearby for easy freshening up before returning to your room.

Second Floor: Grandma’s Stationery Shop. Children can use drawing paper, wrapping paper, and colorful pencils to create their own travel postcards and mail them home. This not only creates lasting memories with parents but also commemorates this fun little journey.

At "Just Sleep Hotel by Shangri-La - Yilan Jiaoxi Branch," you can pay an additional $100 per item at the front desk for a [Bamboo Water Gun DIY] session in the Traditional Games Room—a chance for both kids and parents to rediscover their inner child and make vintage-inspired crafts together.

Blending spring elements with floral art and room decor, guests can personally select favorite flowers upon check-in, layer them with colorful pebbles, and fill a transparent glass bottle full of memories. Arrange it as a unique corner decoration—something you can even take home as a charming living room ornament.

Parents who don’t want to stay in the hotel the whole time can opt for a family picnic (additional fees apply, inquire at the hotel) during the spring family program. Travel by car or taxi (round trip about NT$500).

[Longtan Lake Family Picnic Package]Rent bikes to ride around the lake within the park, and enjoy a giant slide. Weekends are perfect for outdoor fun with the kids.

The "Picnic Package" includes afternoon snacks and picnic mats provided by the hotel, so moms don’t have to worry about hungry kids halfway through playtime.

This time, I mainly brought my child to experience the “Dried Flower Bracelet Workshop” in partnership with Greendays by Fujin Tree. Families can sign up for a free two-hour workshop on March 13, April 9, and May 7, 2016—three sessions in total. A florist will teach each month, helping parents and kids create a keepsake to take home as a lasting memory from the vacation.

The workshop uses vibrant dried spring flowers such as globe amaranth, eucalyptus leaves, roses, wheat, hydrangeas, and other seasonal blooms to craft a "DIY Dried Flower Bracelet." Kids become “little florists,” picking their own materials, while the florist shares knowledge about plants—learning through fun.

Patient instructors guide participants through the bracelet-making process and foster hands-on enjoyment. The dried flowers are preserved at peak bloom, ensuring lasting durability and uniquely elegant decorations.

The finished "DIY Dried Flower Bracelet" can be taken home as a souvenir. This exclusive flower art class is perfect for families—kids not only get to be “little florists” selecting and cutting their own blooms but also create their own limited-edition bracelets.

Wake up and enjoy a hearty breakfast—offering both Western and Chinese options that will definitely keep the kids full and happy. Western choices include a wide selection of breads and toasts, nutritious cereals, sugar-free yogurt, hot and cold soy milk, black tea, juices, coffee, and salad fruits. Also noteworthy is the row of freshly made items: Japanese-style scrambled eggs, hash browns, stir-fried udon, Japanese sukiyaki beef, curry pork, local vegetables, miso soup, and more hot dishes. Chefs keep replenishing the food, so nothing goes cold—it’s truly worth the price of admission just for breakfast.
