Can you really forget your worries here? It’s a small scenic spot on the mountainside along Keelung’s coast, reachable by taking the path within the “National Museum of Marine Science and Technology” campus. Though small, the view is absolutely breathtaking and truly unforgettable.

We arrived at 7 AM for the beautiful scenery of the North Coast. But there were still some early morning walkers on the trail, and my little daughter, just awake, insisted on getting out of the car and walking with me.

They say this place brings forgetfulness, but I think it’s our little daughter who brought me so much joy. She didn’t mind trekking through mountains and rivers with me, and when I said we were going up the mountain, she naively followed, walking along the muddy trail. If I don’t record all of this well, I’m afraid I’ll forget as I grow older—because I really never want to forget.

Friends who want to visit the “Valley of Forgetfulness” can consider the “National Museum of Marine Science and Technology” as a side trip, because...

The early morning light at the “Valley of Forgetfulness” is beautiful, and it’s a great idea to have breakfast here before heading out. This small path is located between the Exploration Hall and the Theme Hall, at the intersection of “Badou Street” and “Fishery Port Third Street.” There are signs here, so it’s quite easy to find.

The pink building on the left is the entrance.

You can also walk up from the “National Museum of Marine Science and Technology,” which takes about 15 minutes. But since we had our young child with us, we drove up early in the morning.

Why mention having breakfast? Because after 9 AM, there is an entrance fee. Coming earlier can save you some money. Parking costs NT$50 on weekdays and NT$100 on holidays. From the “Valley of Forgetfulness,” you can also walk back to the Badouzi Fishing Port Trail.

If you find it troublesome, you can also take the Maritime Science Museum’s shuttle bus No. 65.

Little Yu Garden was well-rested and full of energy. There’s also a public restroom nearby for use.

We arrived so early that even the pigeons were out. Haha—the entrance of the trail offers a view of Keelung Islet paired beautifully with the white stone wall pathway.

From the entrance, you can already see the lush valley. The white trail isn’t difficult to walk on, and even children can easily manage it.

Thanks to the warm morning sun, the shaded areas still carry a bit of the coolness of night. As you walk down, a gentle sea breeze greets you—it’s incredibly blissful. Sometimes, looking back also reveals another lovely view.

When the little one saw such a vast green carpet, she was even more excited than I was—thrilled beyond words. Surrounded by mountains on both sides, stepping out reveals yet another majestic seascape.

Taiwan’s coastline is truly stunning.

The trail follows the mountain ridge, right next to the coastline. With not too much shade, the views are wide open. In Yilan, you see “Guishan Island,” and in Keelung, of course, you come to see “Keelung Islet.”

When you climb to the highest point and look down, you can see the layered mountains along the coastline. With good weather, and if you catch the sunset clouds, it becomes simply gorgeous.

But the most beautiful photo taken on the mountaintop is still of our little daughter.

She’s always smiling, and never complains no matter how many mountains or seas we explore together.

Taiwan’s coastline is so beautiful—has everyone been there?
