Before diving into today’s main topic, let’s talk about metasequoias first!When Xi first heard the term “metasequoia,” to be honest, she wasn’t very familiar with it. At first glance, she naively thought it was a bald cypress. Seriously, why call it a metasequoia!(Xi really is a bit silly)

As Xi took a closer look at the metasequoia, she felt there was something slightly different from the bald cypress, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it!At that moment, she quickly turned to our trusty Google for answers... Oh!So... Oh!It’s like this... Ah, what is it exactly!

? Don’t worry, everyone!It turns out that metasequoia fossils have been found in strata from the Late Cretaceous to the Eocene, earning it the title of “living fossil” in the plant kingdom.

Yay!Let’s give you a quick rundown on metasequoia knowledge—don’t be as clueless as Xi was at first. Then, let’s all admire this beautiful sight together!

The metasequoia area at Shanlinxi is located near the herbal garden. As for how easy it is to find, Xi thinks it’s not hard at all because the entire expanse of lush green metasequoias is hard to miss. But honestly, when Xi first saw the metasequoia area, she didn’t think it was anything special. But remember to venture deeper into the woods—it’s a whole different world!

See!Isn’t it, isn’t it!The sight before Xi’s eyes left her completely amazed!Isn’t it really beautiful!?

So... the neatly arranged metasequoias can be so breathtakingly beautiful. Xi absolutely loves this view and feels like she could fall in love with the metasequoias!(laughs)

Hehehe, doesn’t Xi look sweet standing among the metasequoias, as if she’s in a romantic relationship with them.

In fact, metasequoias are an extremely precious tree species. As mentioned earlier, they are deciduous trees, the only living species of the genus Metasequoia in the cypress family, and large deciduous trees. They can grow up to 35 meters tall, with diameters reaching 2.5 meters. Young trees have a pointed conical crown, while older trees have a broad, rounded canopy.

This means the beautiful metasequoias before us are likely still young. It’s hard to imagine how magnificent they’ll look when they’re fully grown!

Throughout the metasequoia forest, there are large rocks everywhere. Travelers can sit or stand on them, adding plenty of fun opportunities for photos.

The latter half of the metasequoia forest is more sparsely planted, but the neat and orderly scenery still left Xi with many memorable images!

On this light trip to Shanlinxi, in addition to the fiery red maples, Xi also got to admire the golden metasequoias. Who would’ve thought that after so many years, Shanlinxi would have so many new surprises!
