Vina Mommy
Marcus took first place in his very first competition ever! Mommy, I’m seriously so surprised! A few moms privately messaged me asking if I had any special tricks! I’m here to share what I observed that day and our experience with everyone! Since the crawling race we attended had quite a lot of participants, they divided it into several sessions, and I took a little peek at what most parents were doing there!

Many parents brought their babies’ toys and bottles to the event! Actually, those two items are the least effective, because these are things the babies are used to seeing every day. In such a loud, chaotic environment where all the adults are going wild, their usual favorites just don’t cut it! The grass always seems greener on the other side—other people’s toys are definitely more fun! Plus, most of the toys were of similar types, all being waved around—the babies get dizzy! How could they even spot their favorite little piggy? So!
Hello! He’s only about one year old, not ten! Practicing 800 times won’t make him follow your desired pattern! It’ll only make the baby bored of it! And the key point is, he’ll get tired too! Also, that item being dangled in front of him over and over isn’t a novelty anymore! So there’s really no need to practice at all!)
Let me tell you! Whether it goes smoothly or not depends most importantly on the baby’s mood! That day, when Marcus did something wrong, I had to pinch my own thigh to stop myself from scolding him! That day, I saw some babies who were already in a bad mood before the race, crying non-stop! Their moms were still telling them, “Later when you see this, crawl over quickly!” The baby was angry and upset, in an unfamiliar environment, with everyone shouting nonstop! Of course he wouldn’t crawl! He’d just sit there crying or refuse to move altogether! So never let your baby be unhappy!

Babies are such adorable yet tricky little creatures—they’re really hard to predict! So you must arrive early, hold them, walk around, play a bit, and help them feel at ease with the environment first! Just let them know that the adults here will be constantly shouting and making noise! Once they’re used to it, they won’t get startled suddenly! Then, if there are multiple sessions and you’re lucky enough to have a later one! It’s just like the saying—if you haven’t eaten pork, you’ve at least seen a pig run!
That’s roughly it! Wishing all the babies good results! Crawling so far that mom can’t catch up!
For me, joining this was just to fulfill the grown-ups’ memories! After all, Marcus probably thinks, “Does first place taste good? Can toilet paper be eaten?” All he has in mind is piles of soft tissues!
