Have you decided where to go this weekend? We’ve rounded up some great flower viewing spots in Taiwan, including Wuling, Taoyuan’s Daxi, Taichung’s Zhongshe, Changhua, Hualien’s Ruisui, Puli, and Taipei’s Dadaocheng—let the vast seas of blossoms bring joy and relaxation to your holiday.
Flower fields aren’t just found in quieter cities. The Yanping Riverside Park near Taipei’s Dadaocheng has recently burst into bloom with an abundance of flowers. This flower sea features over 50,000 seasonal blooms, including crabapple flowers in four colors—red, peach, pink, and white—plus purple salvia and yellow cosmos and marigolds. Nearby, the “Taipei Light Board,” made of more than 10,000 metal pieces, creates stunning light and shadow effects. Slow down and enjoy the flowers in Dadaocheng.

Not far from Taipei, Taoyuan is also a fantastic place for flower viewing. Along Daying Road in the western part of Daxi lies one such scenic spot. The farmland along Daying Road is usually cultivated only twice a year, and during fallow periods, it’s planted with marigolds.
When the marigolds blanket the fields in golden hues, it’s the perfect backdrop for a picturesque photo. Just behind the marigold fields are two European-style buildings—find the right angle, strike a pose, click—and you’ll have a memorable photo with the vibrant blooms.

Think tulips are hard to find in large fields around here? The Zhongshe Sightseeing Flower Market in Houli District, Taichung, is the only low-altitude tulip farm in central Taiwan that successfully cultivates them. Thanks to unique refrigeration techniques and controlled blooming sequences, tulips here bloom in succession from January to March each year, attracting many visitors.
Moreover, the tulip fields at Zhongshe are vast, making it a popular spot for couples to shoot wedding photos. You don’t need to travel all the way to Holland for tulips—Taiwan offers a spectacular experience too.

Every year, Changhua hosts the “Flowers in Changhua” event, a nine-day festival where various flowers and plants bloom throughout Xizhou Park. The park is divided into a public garden area, a forest area, and a nursery area. Aside from flower viewing, visitors can also enjoy a miniature train ride and 3D landscape art. The serene and spacious environment makes it perfect for a half-day outing.

What? Flower season on campus too? Near the Management College of National Chi Nan University, the cherry blossom grove opens for viewing around Chinese New Year, and the organizers go the extra mile with plenty of exciting activities.
For example, in 2017, they invited 10 food stalls offering authentic Hong Kong and Macau street cuisine to promote the night market culture through exhibitions. There were also nighttime cherry blossom viewings, picnics under the blooms, and tea appreciation events—absolutely wonderful. We’d love to experience sipping tea and having a picnic under the cherry blossoms too.

Hualien has always been a favorite spot of ours. Its scenery and pace of life are a refreshing contrast to the neon lights and hustle of the city, always bringing a sense of relaxation. Besides the sunflower fields in July, don’t miss the Wuri Flower Sea in Ruisui during Chinese New Year.
This flower field is planted by local residents. As you pass the Tropic of Cancer monument in Ruisui and see the vibrant rapeseed and century flowers in full bloom, you’ll know spring has arrived.

Wuling Farm, with its ever-changing scenery throughout the seasons, consistently draws large crowds. The farm features various cherry blossom varieties, including mountain cherry, Yoshino cherry, Wu Shek Shan cherry, and the unique Pink Lady cherry—all blooming together in a stunning display. Beyond flower viewing, the farm also hosts a highland music festival throughout January each year, adding even more relaxation to your holiday.
Editor’s Note:
Wuling Farm implements traffic control during the cherry blossom season. Only guests staying at the farm are allowed to drive in, while other visitors can only take the “Cherry Blossom Shuttle Bus”!
