1. Xia Ye Dou Xing

Aside from handheld bubble tea being a daily favorite, takeaway coffee has emerged as another new trend. Tucked away in an alley off Songjiang Road, “Xia Ye Dou Xing” not only catches the eye with its wooden-themed, artsy exterior but also offers a variety of coffee for takeout.

Though it may not look very spacious, Xia Ye Dou Xing uses wooden planks to create its façade. Though it lacks flashy signage, the few chairs placed outside are often occupied. A closer look at the counter window reveals the café’s own roasted coffee beans, giving off a distinct Japanese vibe.

The café serves espresso, pour-over, and cold drip coffee, and also sells its own roasted beans, mainly light roasts. Every cup is meticulously prepared by the owner, combining style with a refined touch, making it a popular hotspot in the alleys.

When it comes to brunch, hearty grilled toast is a top choice for many. Also located in an alley off Songjiang Road, “Liang Su Shop” specializes in thick charcoal-grilled toast and serves meals like rice bowls, freshly brewed soy milk, and black tea. It has attracted crowds shortly after opening.
