Renowned coffee brand Starbucks, in response to Japan’s distinctive food culture, has launched the “STARBUCKS R JAPAN WONDER PROJECT,” an initiative creating a variety of deeply localized beverage series. The first installment of this series, the “Kaga Bōcha Frappuccino,” was inspired by Japanese tea culture and went on sale on May 30, 2018.

Kaga Bōcha is made from roasted tea stems, which not only eliminates the common bitterness of tea but also gives it a milder, more refreshing flavor. This time, Starbucks Japan has collaborated with Kanazawa’s famous Kaga Bōcha to create the “Kaga Bōcha Frappuccino,” using Kaga Bōcha jelly paired with white chocolate and whipped cream. It’s not only a special taste experience but also visually striking with its shimmering golden hue.

This “Kaga Bōcha Frappuccino” is being released in Japan in limited quantities, so travelers visiting Japan soon shouldn’t miss out.
