August and September are the peak blooming seasons for alpine golden needle flowers, with spots like Liushizishan and Chikeshan in Hualien, and Taimali in Taitung being popular flower-viewing destinations. However, lowland golden needle flowers begin blooming as early as May, and there are also many lowland golden needle flower spots across Taiwan where visitors can enjoy the golden-yellow sea of flowers earlier.

1. Taichung – Taichung Harbor Passenger Service Center
Located next to the passenger service center at Taichung Harbor, besides offering a variety of international-standard services, visitors can also admire a vast expanse of golden-yellow flower fields. With an investment of millions of dollars, the parking lot area has been landscaped with various flowers, plants, and trees, making this not just a gateway for travelers, but also one of the best spots for flower viewing.

2. Taichung – Musin Spring Farm
The golden needle flower season at Musin Spring Farm kicks off in May. Lush green hillsides are covered with bright yellow blossoms, resembling a blanket of gold — a breathtaking sight. The farm spans over 8 hectares of expansive land. Its high elevation offers views of Wine Barrel Mountain and the Dajia River, and at night, you can gaze at the starry sky above while overlooking the neon lights of Taichung.

3. Nantou – Tou She Basin
Nantou’s Sun Moon Lake Living Basin is one of the world’s rare peat soil regions and the only basin-shaped grass peat area globally. In addition to the traditional golden needle flower season in August and September, last year saw the addition of a lowland golden needle flower variety in May. The park has expanded compared to previous years and also features the only floating golden needle flower field in Taiwan.
