Similarly, there are plenty of situations during travel and leisure activities where waiting in line is inevitable. Here are five essential items that can help you face such situations — whether waiting in queues or for your number to be called — with more ease.

1. Folding Chairs
To avoid the discomfort of standing for long periods, a portable and lightweight folding chair is essential. For those not too far from home, some simply bring a chair from home, while others opt for small stools. When space allows, some even bring foldable lounge chairs. Additionally, in some queue situations, chairs are provided — but having your own compact, easy-to-carry folding chair is always a good idea.
2. Umbrellas and Sun/Rain Protection Gear
Whether it's sunny or rainy, carrying an umbrella can make waiting more comfortable. Prolonged sun exposure can lead to heatstroke, while getting caught in the rain may cause you to catch a chill — both are best avoided. You can also use sun protection items, fans, or small handheld fans to stay cool. In cold winter, it’s advisable to bring hand warmers.

3. Water and Snacks
For long waits, it’s wise to prepare drinking water and snacks to avoid hunger pangs. However, you should also consider whether restroom access is readily available and whether queue or waiting rules allow you to briefly step away.
4. Masks and Personal Hygiene Supplies
Masks serve multiple purposes. In crowded areas, they help minimize exposure to air pollution and viruses. Sometimes, they’re also used as a way to shield oneself from public view. Other personal hygiene items such as tissue paper and wet wipes are also useful to have on hand for unexpected needs.
