The stunning natural phenomenon known as "blue tears" can be seen not only in Matsu but has recently also appeared along the coasts of Kinmen. This year, the blue tears in Kinmen emerged earlier than usual, with an unprecedented surge in quantity — especially at Chenggong Beach, where a dreamy fluorescent shoreline can be spotted even from afar.

At night, the blue fluorescence dances with the waves, creating a scene reminiscent of movies like *Avatar* or *Life of Pi*. This year, Kinmen is giving Matsu a run for its money, with large amounts of blue tears making it a popular nighttime destination.

Most of the blue tears in Matsu appear around rocky areas, so they can only be admired from a distance. In Kinmen, however, the blue tears can be seen on multiple beaches, allowing visitors to get up close. As the waves move, the blue light resembles shimmering star-like sand, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere against the backdrop of the starry night sky and the illuminated cityscape of Xiamen across the strait.

The blue tears season typically runs from April to September each year. This year, in addition to visiting Matsu, you now have the option to head to Kinmen and even plan a trip there.
