In the Hsinchu area, there are three such dreamy locations. Besides the popular Sea Sound, there’s also the Fish Scale Stairway and Xiangshan Wetland.

1. Fish Scale Stairway
The Fish Scale Stairway is located along the coast next to the Nanliao Fishing Port International Kite Flying Field. Stacked white stone slabs, shaped like tofu blocks, paired with the endless sea view, resemble Argentina's Salinas Grandes salt flats—earning it the nickname "Little Salt Flat." Due to the 3.5-meter tidal range at Nanliao Fishing Port, slope protection works are required around the breakwaters. The city government opted for more aesthetically pleasing native cement blocks to create artificial slope protection blocks. The specially designed fish-scale-shaped stepped breakwaters provide safe access points for visitors to get close to the coastline.

2. Xiangshan Wetland
Stretching 15 kilometers long and covering approximately 1,700 hectares, Xiangshan Coastal Wetland is a wildlife reserve in Hsinchu City. Rich in wetland ecology, it is the largest oyster farming area in northern Taiwan, as well as one of the most abundant mudflat habitats for fiddler crabs along Taiwan’s coast. It is also one of the essential stopover sites for migratory birds from Siberia.

The wetland landscape shifts with the tides, creating diverse coastal vistas that attract many visitors to capture the beauty of the sunset.
