The Japanese Michelin one-star teppanyaki restaurant UKAI TEI became globally renowned after hosting a dinner between U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, accompanied by their wives. Aside from being available at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel Kaohsiung, UKAI TEI’s Taiwan branch will also open a new location in northern Taiwan in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The Royal Group, which operates the Evergreen Laurel Hotel, announced a contract signing with UKAI’s parent company. The two parties have also partnered with the Breeze Group to establish a presence in the new “Taipei Breeze Nan Shan” department store in Xinyi District, set to open in the fourth quarter of 2018. This will allow food lovers in northern Taiwan to enjoy the unique taste of the world’s only Michelin-certified teppanyaki.

Located in Kaohsiung, the UKAI TEI KAOHSIUNG restaurant consists of the UKAI Teppanyaki on the second floor and the UKAI Grill steakhouse on the third floor. The restaurants feature the same ultra-long curved teppanyaki counter as the one in Tokyo’s Ginza branch, along with VIP private rooms. With an elegant culinary style, strict standards for ingredient quality, and warm, attentive service, the reputation of UKAI has spread internationally.
