Taiwan’s fourth Tsutaya bookstore opens in Taichung, a massive 300-ping space

Since 2003, starting with “TSUTAYA TOKYO ROPPONGI” in Roppongi, the Book & Café Style has gradually expanded across Japan. After the first “TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE” opened in Taipei’s Xinyi District in January 2017, it is finally set to meet consumers in Taichung on April 26, 2018, bringing the concept of “delightful reading × dining time” to Central Taiwan.

The biggest highlight of the TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE Taichung Municipal Government Store is its over 300-ping spacious area, making it the brand’s central Taiwan flagship store. Jointly created by TSUTAYA and the Café Restaurant “WIRED TOKYO” in Shibuya, the bookstore and café are integrated into one space, creating a unique Book & Café lifestyle. The Taichung Municipal Government Store will offer a variety of exclusive products only available at this location.

The bookstore section will exclusively introduce limited-edition items from the newly opened Fukuoka Rokkomatsu Tsutaya bookstore in Japan, including handmade products from the Okayama-based brand DECHO/NAPRON, the Japanese old industrial design brand CANDY DESIGN WORKS, and the popular Japanese outdoor gear brand ALLSTIME... and more. The well-known Japanese handmade eyewear brand Oh My Glasses reflects the Japanese attention to detail in its design, texture, and packaging. In addition, there are about 20,000 imported stationery and sundries, around 20,000 Chinese books and magazines, approximately 20,000 original Japanese and English books, Japanese children's picture books, and the store’s first-ever family zone, where parents and kids can enjoy quality reading and playtime together. For gaming enthusiasts, a VR pop-up experience zone in collaboration with Sony PS4 will also be available.

The WIRED TOKYO Taichung Municipal Government Store’s signature dishes include a collaboration with the famous “DOUG’S BURGER” from Miyakojima, Okinawa, offering burgers made with Japanese wagyu beef produced in Miyakojima—so you can enjoy a must-try Okinawan dish without traveling to the island. In addition, WIRED TOKYO’s specialties such as cod roe mentaiko cream pasta, century-old bonito soup stock, Kyoto matcha, and various desserts are also available at the Taichung Municipal Government Store.
