Overwhelmed by crowds again: The mysterious beach wonderland reopens

Dong’ao Fen Niao Lin has been dubbed by netizens as a heavenly secret beach. In 2017, an influx of tourists led to piles of trash on the rocks, ruining the beautiful scenery. Moreover, as this area is part of a fishing harbor and was originally off-limits, safety concerns prompted its closure.

Despite the installation of fences and barriers, many visitors still risk entering. The county government has recently started construction to build a new access path, improving the harbor’s infrastructure and allowing safe passage to the beach. The project is expected to be completed in May.

Fen Niao Lin enjoys a uniquely secluded location, with its azure waters and rugged surrounding rocks creating an isolated and serene atmosphere. It is also a renowned fishing ground, home to prized species such as crimson snapper, grouper, blacktip fish, and white-tip fish—making it a heaven for anglers. Many fishing enthusiasts often gather here to fish from the shore or take boats out for sea fishing adventures.

The county government has awarded a contract for improvement works, which include installing stairs, railings, and pathways leading to the beach, as well as removing some wave-dissipating blocks. The project also involves leasing nearby private land to create new parking spaces and install three temporary public restrooms. The county government reminds visitors that the secret beach features significant drops, deep and steep waters, so safety must be a top priority.
