Day Trip to Xinbei’s Hidden Gem: Explore Waterfall Secrets & Light Shows

Not far from Taipei city center, Xinbei boasts a variety of stunning landscapes, including waterfall hidden gems, serene lakes, scenic cafes, and water dance shows—making it perfect for a one-day trip. From day to night, there are endless beautiful scenes to capture.

1. Galaxy Cave Waterfall – A Hidden Paradise
Located on the mountainside between Xinbei and Muzha, at an altitude of over 200 meters, Galaxy Cave Waterfall is a hidden gem with a drop of about 40 meters. The year-round cascading waterfall offers a refreshing experience in spring and summer, like an oasis in the city.

Galaxy Cave is a hollow formed in a mountain wall, with a small temple dedicated to Guanyin inside. The walls are inscribed with the words “A World Apart.” The hiking trail along Galaxy Cave is lush and pleasant, making it an easy and popular route for travelers. 

From Xinbei Metro Station:
Take Xinbei Bus (Pinglin Line) and get off at “Galaxy Cave” on Beiyi Road
Take Xinbei Bus 647, 650, or Green 5 to the terminal “Zhongsheng Bridge” and get off
Walk about 10 minutes uphill along Beiyi Road, take a big turn, then walk about 25 minutes on the opposite Galaxy Road to reach the Galaxy Cave trailhead.
From the Maokong direction: Get off at “Zihu Station” on Brown 15 or Small 10, then head toward Galaxy Cave
By car: From Xinbei Metro Station on Beixin Road → Opposite No. 458, Section 2, Beiyi Road → Galaxy Road → Galaxy Cave Trailhead

2. Blue Cube – Scenic Cafe
Blue Cube Leisure Farm features a garden resembling a European castle, not far from the Galaxy Ridge Trail. The hilltop’s classic red-brick building, paired with sweeping mountain views, creates a delightful dining atmosphere. Its European-style architecture and ambiance attract many visitors for photos.
