The fragrance of flowers wafts on the breeze, lotuses dot the emerald-green lake, while insects chirp, frogs croak, and butterflies flutter about, as if a symphony of the countryside is playing in your ears. In Guanyin District, Taoyuan, there’s a hidden gem called the “Monet’s Garden” landscape restaurant, where countless flowers and plants flourish, making you feel as though you’ve fallen into one of the paintings by the French Impressionist master Claude Monet.

“Monet’s Garden” was designed based on Monet’s renowned painting “The Japanese Footbridge.” The restaurant has recreated the wooden bridge and lotus pond from the artwork within its grounds. The most captivating sight is the interplay between the drooping willows and the lotuses in the pond, with a small bridge at the center that blends harmoniously into the scenery. The garden boasts a wide variety of plants, including lotuses, rosemary, irises, sage, lavender, cacti and other succulents, as well as chrysanthemum fields, herb gardens, two large dragon fruit orchards, and numerous aquatic plants—truly a paradise for plant lovers. Every angle offers a uniquely charming view.

The minimum spend per person is NT$100. Meal options include Chinese and Western set menus, or you can order individual snacks and drinks. Notably, the restaurant also offers fully vegetarian dishes. After eating and drinking your fill, don’t forget to stroll through the carefully tended garden, which features minimal artificial decoration and a touch of wilderness, with winding paths that feel like a maze-like countryside labyrinth. It’s worth noting that June is the lotus season in Guanyin, but even during the off-season, you can still enjoy the flowers and avoid the crowds.
