Visit the hidden scenic wonders of eastern Taiwan – Tickets for the summer cruise-style train now on sale

Following the Forest Railway, Taiwan Railways has launched a brand-new railway tourism experience. In conjunction with the operation of the “SL Summer Taiwan No. 1” cruise-style train, it will take train enthusiasts on a journey through eastern Taiwan, visiting hidden gems and breathtaking landscapes deep in Hualien and Taitung, offering a unique rail travel experience unlike any other.

From June to July, Taiwan Railways has specially curated three “3-day, 2-night SL Summer Taiwan No. 1 Cruise-Style Train” themed tours. Combining steam trains with the tourism resources of eastern Taiwan, the tours focus on visiting popular local attractions and making stops at smaller stations, taking travelers from Yuli Station to Taitung Station. Along the way, you’ll explore multiple stations and regional sights across Hualien and Taitung, embarking on an in-depth railway adventure.

During the “3-day, 2-night SL Summer Taiwan No. 1 Cruise-Style Train” itinerary, passengers will disembark at intermediate stops such as Chihshang, Guanshan, and Shanli stations, allowing them to explore famous nearby sights on foot. You can visit the historic Guanshan Old Station and old staff dormitories, walking through traces of history. The trip also includes a visit to the legendary hard-to-reach “Shanli Station” and its quaint white chapel, offering stunning views of the area’s unique natural landscapes and cultural charm.
