A 300-meter canopy of golden trumpet trees blooms into a sea of flowers, reflecting as a golden river

Located beside Fuyuan Junior High School in Hualien, Xingquan Canal is a century-old irrigation channel. Six years ago, Taiwan Sugar planted around 300 meters of yellow trumpet trees along the canal. Every March when they bloom, the vibrant yellow flowers form a breathtaking floral boulevard, their beauty mirrored in the canal’s waters to create an enchanting golden panorama.

Thanks to the warm and rainy climate this year, the yellow trumpet trees have bloomed progressively from late February to early March, with the peak flowering period now in full swing. The nearly 300-meter-long expanse of radiant yellow blossoms, reflected on the canal, turns it into a stunning golden river. Coupled with the quaint romantic charm of the rural path, it has quickly become a wildly popular photo spot.

For transportation, due to the ongoing widening project on Provincial Highway 9 between Daxing and Fuyuan, the original flower-viewing entrance barrier has become less visible. Visitors eager to admire the trumpet trees can access the viewing area from the north via the Council of Agriculture’s Danongdafu Plain Forest Park.
