The popular photo spot from Tokyo, Japan, ZAKUZAKU stick-shaped cream puffs officially opened today (25th) at New York New York A11, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi, drawing crowds even before the mall opened. By 11 a.m., just before the official opening, there were already over 200 people in line. Some arrived half an hour after opening and, upon learning they’d have to wait four hours, still chose to stay.

ZAKUZAKU stick-shaped cream puffs are known for three features: “freshly filled custard cream,” “crispy outside and smooth inside texture,” and their “unique stick shape.” Their deliciousness mainly comes from using Hokkaido flour and fresh milk, baked fresh daily in-store. The custard filling is piped in front of customers after ordering, resulting in a bite that combines the crunch of almond bits, the slightly crisp exterior of the puff, and the smooth custard filling. In Taiwan, each stick-shaped cream puff is priced at NT$88, or six for NT$498, with a limit of six per person.
