Kyoto Go-Gyo is an izakaya established in Kyoto by Ippudo, the Japanese tonkotsu ramen chain renowned across Japan. The original building was once the residence of Koyuki, a famous courtesan from the yG Garden, who later married a wealthy American. Behind the house lies a large vault built during the Meiji era, known as “Kura,” which has now been transformed into a stylish Western-style bar. During lunch hours, Kyoto Go-Gyo serves tonkotsu ramen in the Ippudo style, while in the evening, it offers a variety of hot pot dishes paired with alcoholic beverages, along with more than 50 types of Japanese sake, mainly awamori and shochu. Among the most popular items is the “Kogarashi Miso Ramen,” where the miso soup base is charred to a blackened state, resulting in a rich yet smoky flavor. It pairs perfectly with the signature “Hakata Offal Hot Pot,” delivering an intense taste experience best enjoyed with a glass of smooth Japanese sake.
