Kitami Fox Village is home to over 100 adorable white, silver-gray, and brown-yellow foxes raised in a free-range style. Located in the Yunokawa Onsen area of Hakodate, the Our Lady Convent (also known as the Sisters of St. Joseph Convent) was built in 1898 (Meiji 31) by eight nuns who came from France to preach in Hakodate. The main building of the convent is a typical European-style structure, but unfortunately, it was destroyed by a major fire in 1925. The current building was reconstructed in 1927. Although the interior of the convent is not open to the public, its garden is quite elegant and serene.
