Macau’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve Parties – Get Up Close with ZAiA

As Hong Kong revels in its vibrant WinterFest with dazzling light displays everywhere, Macau’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties are equally impressive, featuring a Christmas concert, a major concert at Sai Van Lake Square, and the ZAiA New Year’s Eve bash — all unmissable highlights. The annual Tulip Exhibition also takes place at Coloane’s Taipa Houses–Museum Complex, kicking off the welcome of 2010.

The approaching Christmas season ushers in a strong festive atmosphere in Macau, with cities adorned in elaborate and eye-catching light displays. These blend beautifully with the city’s unique architecture that fuses Eastern and Western cultures, showcasing Macau’s distinctive exotic charm. At 8:00 PM on December 23, the Macao Orchestra, together with the Young Singers Association and Pure & Elegant Choir, will present a “Christmas Concert” at the Church of St. Dominic in the Historic Centre of Macau, featuring religious music by Mozart, Bach, and renowned Macanese composer Lam Yuk-pui.

Churches across the city, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, and major hotels all host carol services on Christmas Eve. You can also attend a midnight mass at the Cathedral, another UNESCO World Heritage site. Macau Fisherman’s Wharf has also arranged mini concerts by local singers and bands to celebrate the joyous holiday with visitors. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, Macau hosts numerous grand countdown parties across the city. Outdoor performance venues such as Sai Van Lake Square, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, and Coloane’s Taipa Houses–Museum Complex will treat audiences to high-energy song and dance performances, keeping the celebration going until the early hours. A dazzling fireworks display adds a romantic touch to the countdown. Cirque du Soleil’s first Asian resident show, ZAiA, also holds a special “ZAiA New Year’s Eve Party” on that night. Before enjoying the unique performance, you can meet the cast up close during the pre-show gala from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM in the theater lobby. The ZAiA performance begins at 10:00 PM, followed by the 2010 New Year’s Eve countdown, ensuring an unforgettable evening.

From December 23 to 31, the Tulip Exhibition at Coloane’s Taipa Houses–Museum Complex showcases the beauty of tulips through high-quality floral arrangements, allowing visitors to ring in the New Year amid fragrant blooms and enjoy cultural performances.
