It feels like you just left yesterday, but today it’s all over. Even though it’s still 24 hours, somehow time flies by so fast during a trip. On the last day of your journey, you absolutely don’t want to sleep—the feeling of not wanting the trip to end grows endlessly. Just thinking about going back to work the next day hurts, but turns out there are even more things you don’t want to deal with after traveling:
1. Not Wanting to Go Back to Work
No matter how much you OT’d or worked overtime before your trip to clear your tasks, the moment you return to the office the next day and see tons of emails in your Outlook inbox, your mood won’t be good. Even clients who never contact you suddenly go crazy trying to reach you while you were away—but all you want is to get your travel high back.
2. Colleagues Laughing as They Hand Out Souvenirs
Buying souvenirs has become an unwritten rule in the workplace when you travel. One of the important tasks of returning to work the next day is smiling as colleagues hand out their souvenirs, while also listening to everyone say stuff like “Lucky you!” / “You had it easy!” / “Finally decided to come back!” (the 6 most hated phrases after a trip). You keep smiling and handing them out, and some even complain that your souvenirs lack sincerity. Souvenir-giving is a profound art—just one gift can reveal someone's character.
3. Looking Sunburned
Whether you’re male or female, it’s essential to take protective measures when traveling, even on days that seem cloudy. Otherwise, you won’t just end up tanned—you could also damage your skin. Getting a bit darker from travel is inevitable, but don’t get sunburned, or you’ll be embarrassed by peeling skin when you get back.
4. Pretending Not to See the Credit Card Bill
The joy of travel also drains your funds, so it’s better to avoid checking your ATM balance for now. Otherwise, your post-trip bliss will quickly shatter. Maybe waiting until payday to check your balance will make you feel a bit better?
5. Not Wanting to Unpack
Packing up after a trip is also a hassle. You not only have to wash dirty clothes but also sort through a pile of stuff you bought and barely remember what it is. As you tidy up, you might wonder why you bought certain things or regret purchasing useless items. Maybe you should just leave your luggage sealed.
6. Sorting Through Travel Photos
You inevitably take tons of photos during a trip, but more often than not, those photos just end up sitting in your phone or camera. The thought of spending a lot of time sorting them makes you even lazier to deal with it.
