Chongqing Tongliang Fire Dragon Stuns at Southern Taiwan Lantern Festival – International Performances to Light Up the Event

Last year, the Chongqing “Tongliang Fire Dragon” performance wowed audiences at the Southern Taiwan Lantern Festival, and it’s making a comeback this year with six shows from March 2 to March 6. Audiences can enjoy the breathtaking performance of the acclaimed “No. 1 Dragon in China,” bringing an extraordinary thrill to this year’s Lantern Festival.

Originating from Chongqing, China, the Tongliang Fire Dragon has a history of over a thousand years and is listed as part of China’s national intangible cultural heritage. In addition to dragon dance performances, molten iron heated to 1,500 degrees Celsius is splashed and ignited in mid-air, creating fiery sparks. The longest fire dragon stretches 40 meters, offering a grand, spectacular, thrilling and unique experience.

This marks the second time the Chongqing Tongliang Fire Dragon is performing in Taiwan. During its first invitation last year, it was showcased in Nantou and Hsinchu, attracting over 160,000 visitors in total. This year, it will perform at the Piaosha Stage in Nantou and Pulil Junior High School in Puli, featuring two fire dragons with upgraded designs. Not only will the choreography be more ethnic in style, but additional fireworks and colored light strips will be added to enhance visual appeal.
