Just as we’re about to step into the nine-day-long Lunar New Year holiday, the weather has suddenly turned damp and cold, with overcast skies and rain covering most of central and northern Taiwan. If you want to enjoy warm sunshine during your vacation, head down to Southern Taiwan. This year, the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area has launched the “Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Coastal Tourism Passport,” packed with rich content that allows travelers to follow the guide and discover great deals along the way！

The Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area Administration, in collaboration with the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to promote the “Travel Taiwan, Feel the 100 Touching Moments” campaign, has specially integrated quality businesses from Yunlin County, Chiayi County, and Tainan City and County, along with introductions to coastal attractions, planning a comprehensive package of discounted offers and travel routes. The passport features three major categories of discounts: gourmet food and local specialties, accommodation, and attraction tickets. Attractions such as Donglong Temple Cultural Center, Qigu Salt Mountain, and Taiwan Salt Museum are all offering a special 50% discount on admission.

In addition, there are many authentic coastal delicacies and local specialties unique to the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan region, such as salt-crispy seafood dishes, milkfish sausages, seafood-filled meatballs, honey-flavored braised snacks, burdock products, old-fashioned tofu pudding, and popular puddings—all available at special prices. Even double rooms for accommodation are available for under a thousand NT dollars after discounts. The promotion period lasts until the end of 2010 (99 in Taiwan’s calendar), offering a full year of great deals.

To encourage more people to visit the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan coastal area, the Yunlin Scenic Area Administration is giving away an extra “Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Commemorative T-shirt.” Simply present your passport at key attractions in the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan area to collect four attraction stamps, plus two stamps from participating discount merchants, and you can exchange them for one free “Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Commemorative T-shirt.” Each person is limited to claiming one souvenir in person with their passport. This “Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan Coastal Tourism Passport” specially integrates the Greater Tainan Travel Circle and is issued together with the “Tainan City Tourism Passport” as a buy-one-get-one-free offer, limited in quantity. The other 1,500 copies can be collected for free at five locations: the Tainan Railway Station Tourist Service Center, the Xinying Railway Station Tourist Service Center; eight stamping points: the Tainan Salt Pan Eco-Cultural Village, the Black-Faced Spoonbill Conservation Center, the Yunlin Scenic Area Administration, the Yunlin Scenic Area Administration Qigu Station, the Yunlin Scenic Area Administration Budai Station, the Taiwan Blackfoot Disease Medical Memorial Museum, the Dongshi Aogu Nature Ecological Hall, and the Zheng Fengxi Memorial Library, as well as 43 participating merchants, totaling 53 locations. Quantities are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
