2010 Singapore World Gourmet Summit

The much-awaited international food event, the "Singapore World Gourmet Summit," is set to return this year. Taking place in Singapore from April 11 to 25, this gathering of global cuisines will not only showcase specially crafted and creative dishes by Michelin-level chefs and dozens of renowned chefs from countries including France, the UK, Australia, and Italy, but also expand last year’s well-received “Grandeur of Wine” event. In addition to expert wine tastings, it will feature over 350 wine brands on display for the first time.

Organized by the Singapore Tourism Board and entering its 14th year, the “Singapore World Gourmet Summit” (World Gourmet Summit), themed “A Constellation of Stars” this year, brings together star chefs, star wines, star restaurants, and star dishes, offering the public a star-like experience of gourmet feasts. This year’s event is grand in scale, spanning two weeks and collaborating with 38 renowned restaurants. It also invites Michelin-level chefs Alex Chow, Andrea Berton, Dieter Kaufmann, and Michel Rostang, as well as Chef Greg Doyle & Grant King—awarded three hats by an Australian newspaper—to lead 34 world-class chefs in showcasing their talents. While enjoying the cuisine, visitors can join the inaugural “Chef Lunch” on April 13 or 23 to interact closely with the masters and spark new culinary creativity.

For those who want to get hands-on and enjoy the joyful atmosphere of cooking, join the “Kitchen Party” to taste food, play with cooking, and enjoy art performances alongside the chefs. This year’s “Grandeur of Wine,” which showcases delicacies from around the world, is also refreshing. It will be held from April 16 to 18, featuring five star wineries: Château Le Tetre Rotêboeuf, Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier, Egon Muller Scharzhof, Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné, and Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido. The “Wine Experience,” displaying over 350 wine brands, along with sharing sessions by wine experts, is truly a rare opportunity.

Another brand-new event at the “Singapore World Gourmet Summit” is the first-ever chocolate-themed activity. The “Chocolate Gala Dinner” on April 23 will invite internationally renowned pastry chefs Gianluca Fusto, Frédéric Bau, Loretta Fanella, as well as local chocolate experts Vincent Bourdin, Pang Kok Keong, and Janice Wong, to create desserts using the rich sweetness of chocolate. For those wishing to dine with their idols, the “Meet the Celebrity” events on April 13 and 20 will invite British Michelin two-star chef Raymond Blanc from the BBC cooking show, making the dream of dining with a celebrity easily come true.
