Dance with Spring Cherry Blossoms: The Stunning Bloom of Alishan’s Cherry Trees

As spring gradually arrives, it’s once again the season for cherry blossoms. The Alishan Forest Recreation Area sees a surge of flower enthusiasts every early spring, all coming to enjoy the leisurely and romantic atmosphere under the blooming cherry trees. The majority of cherry varieties in Alishan are Japanese types, including Yoshino cherry, Fuji cherry, and double-flowered cherry, each with its own uniquely stunning charm. These blossoms bloom progressively between January and April, with March and April being the best time to admire them.

This year, the Alishan Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off on March 14th, White Day. Alishan Gaoshan Qing Hotel has specially launched the “Cherry for You” accommodation package, inviting couples—both big and small—to celebrate a beautiful and sweet White Cherry Blossom Valentine’s Day amidst the snow-like cherry blossoms in Alishan.

To stroll and admire the graceful cherry blossoms, it is recommended to first head to the Alishan Forest Recreation Area upon arrival to view the blossoms (including Yoshino cherry, Oshima cherry, and Benzaiten cherry) as well as famous scenic spots. After enjoying the flowers, you can shop for Alishan-exclusive specialties in the Alishan shopping district. On the second day, head up to Zhushan for a sunrise viewing experience—an intellectual journey—and in the afternoon, explore the Fenchihu Old Street for a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
