Challenge the fjords of the Arctic Circle on Baffin Island, climb rocks to explore the world

For those who love challenging themselves, the most fascinating aspect of rock climbing is the ability to venture into natural rock formations, scale uniquely shaped cliffs with dramatic contrasts, reach certain heights, and then enjoy the thrill of being at great elevation. Krabi in Thailand is one of the world’s top rock climbing paradises, where unique limestone karst terrain creates rugged, extraordinary rock landscapes and cliffs. Beyond making a pilgrimage to the climbing mecca of Krabi, the Asgard Mountain face within the Arctic Circle is considered the most difficult rock wall to climb in the world.

Climbing cliff faces is a sport challenge. On the evenings of March 22 and March 23, there will be a thrilling premiere of a mountaineering and rock climbing documentary — an groundbreaking project called "Project Asgard." Asgard Mountain is located in Canada’s Arctic Circle, and its north face is the most challenging rock wall in the world to climb. British outdoor sports brand Berghaus-sponsored athlete Leo Houlding and his fellow climbing explorers took on the challenge of Asgard Mountain, with Leo hoping to become the first person to successfully complete a free climb of the wall.

Renowned British outdoor athlete Leo Houlding continuously pushes his limits and has many impressive achievements in his climbing career. To summit Asgard, Leo Houlding, along with Sean Leary, Stanley, Richie, and other Berghaus-sponsored athletes, ventured into the heart of Baffin Island in the Arctic Circle — the region of Qikiqtarjuaq. In the film, the adventurous climbers carried 30-kilogram gear through a five-day trek. The storyline is captivating, filled with numerous twists, unforeseen situations, and high-stakes drama throughout the expedition, taking viewers on a rollercoaster journey.

Most of the time set in the Baffin Island Arctic fjord region covered with sea ice, where only a short window each year experiences 24-hour daylight, the climbing team tackled this paradise for mountaineering enthusiasts just before the ice melted in the summer of 2009. Towering granite walls offered astonishing views, creating truly one-of-a-kind scenes.

The premiere of the "The Asgard Project" mountaineering and rock climbing documentary will take place on the evenings of March 22 and March 23 at 19:00 in Hall 15 of Warner Village XinYi (doors open at 18:00).
