Spring travel in Korea: Jeollabuk-do sightseeing bus is now in service

Traditional culture and spicy cuisine are among the most cherished tourism assets of Koreans, and Jeollado is widely recognized as the country’s “homeland of food and art”! In this pristine land, traditional songs such as folk ballads and Arirang have been perfectly preserved, along with well-preserved traditional houses and idyllic rural scenery, exuding an immensely charming Korean appeal.

Although most tourists are more familiar with major cities like Seoul and Busan, if you mention the TV drama “Summer Scent,” beautiful scenery immediately comes to mind. The resort jointly managed by the male and female leads in the drama is the Muju Resort in Jeollabuk-do. This mountain-type resort is considered a leisure sanctuary for Koreans. The moving scenes from the drama’s “Healing Forest” episode were filmed here, leaving viewers deeply moved.

Transportation to Jeollabuk-do mainly involves taking a train and then transferring to a bus. To make travel more convenient for visitors, the region has launched the “Jeollabuk-do Sightseeing Bus Tour,” which takes travelers to all the famous tourist spots across the province, allowing them to take in the entire beauty of Jeollabuk-do in one trip and experience its unique charm. The tour offers different themed travel packages according to the four seasons and includes one night of accommodation. The program is available through November.

In addition to the existing Saturday route from Seoul to Jeonju (a 2-day, 1-night tour), the “Jeollabuk-do Sightseeing Bus Tour” has added a new biweekly route from Busan to Jeonju (also a 2-day, 1-night tour), enabling visitors from Busan to also experience the traditional cultural resources of Jeollabuk-do. Travelers from Seoul and Busan can depart from Gwanghwamun in Seoul or in front of Busan Station, heading to the Saemangeum Exhibition Hall, the seawall, and other popular attractions, then spend one night in Jeonju Hanok Village. On the second day, they will visit other sites such as Gyeonggijeon Shrine and Bongnam Gate before returning to Seoul or Busan.

The 2-day, 1-night “Jeollabuk-do Sightseeing Bus Tour” costs no more than 90,000 KRW per person. By taking this bus tour, visitors can explore places that are usually hard to reach at a reasonable price and discover the beauty of Jeollabuk-do, Korea.
