Although Indian cuisine, which incorporates a variety of spicy seasonings, may seem a bit intimidating, this fusion of exotic spices has won over the taste buds of many gourmets. This year, the Far East Café on the 10th floor of Shangri-La’s Far Eastern International Hotel in Tainan offers exotic delicacies and launches the “Amazing Indian Food Festival.” Using high-end Indian tandoor double ovens, a variety of tandoori chicken and freshly baked Indian flatbreads are served, paired with different styles of Indian curry dishes. The exotic and flavorful cuisine has deeply resonated with the people of Tainan.

India has long been famous for its spices. Indian spicy curries and tandoori dishes are renowned worldwide and can be considered synonymous with Indian cuisine. From April 23 to May 7, the Far East Café specially invites Indian Chef Ashok Bandaru from the Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong to present the 15-day “Amazing Indian Food Festival.” The diverse and rich Indian dishes cover North-Western Indian cuisine, South Indian cuisine, and tandoori cuisine. The Indian culinary journey at the Far East Café in early summer features an Indian-style salad bar offering Indian potato salad and Indian spiced black-eyed pea soup with cilantro puree, delivering a refreshing and smooth taste.

A wide selection of Indian dishes includes golden vegetable dumplings with coconut sour sauce, Indian ginger-fried fish fillet, Indian stir-fried lamb with garam masala spices, Indian spicy curry shrimp, and local delights such as Indian boiled red beans, allowing you to enjoy both seafood and meat dishes in one meal. After the meal, the tableside beverage performance features an Indian chai tea show, paired with Indian millet pudding, bringing the Indian cuisine gala to a perfect close. The Indian Food Festival feast is available during weeknight dinners and weekend lunch and dinner services, priced at 880 NTD per person plus 10%. In addition, guests who fill out the customer feedback form will have the chance to win copies of the Indian Taipei Association's "India in a Nutshell" and "World Heritage: India" magazine books.

In conjunction with the launch of the “Amazing Indian Food Festival,” the Far East Café specially hosts the “Impression of Cuisine – ‘I Am the Chef’ Indian Home Cooking Workshop” from 3:00 to 4:30 PM on April 24. Guest Chef Ashok Bandaru provides on-site guidance on how to easily prepare Indian home-style dishes. Additionally, Indian snacks and chai tea are served. Dining card and fitness club members enjoy free entry, while non-members are charged a materials fee of 330 NTD per person. For registration, please contact the hotel at (06) 702-8888.
