Hokkaido Self-Guided Travel Chat: Meet Travel Experts at Eslite
To promote tourism in Hokkaido, JR Hokkaido and the Hokkaido Tourism Promotion Organization jointly held two “Hokkaido Self-Guided Travel Chats” in the summer and winter of 2009, offering travelers face-to-face opportunities. Both events were hugely popular, with every seat taken. This year, following the grand launch of the official Facebook fan page “REAL Hokkaido” in Taiwan, to promote summer travel packages, they will once again hold a self-guided travel seminar at Eslite Xinyi Store, bringing the latest travel information and insights to help those planning a trip to Hokkaido gain a deeper understanding of their journey.

The “Hokkaido Self-Guided Travel Chat” will take place on May 15 and 16 at Eslite Xinyi. It will be hosted by a special group of Hokkaido travel experts who have come to Taiwan, including railway expert Sei Yazaki and nature expert Zheng Jiaf. They will introduce new ways to experience Hokkaido in the summer across various themes such as railways, car rentals, flower viewing, nature, and gourmet food, and personally teach how to best enjoy the region. A variety of major prizes will also be given away during the event, including a 3-day, 2-night Hokkaido self-guided tour, hotel stay vouchers, Hokkaido Rail Passes, and JR Hokkaido seasonal limited-edition kitaca merchandise.
Additionally, there will be a tasting mini party on-site, featuring Furano wine (minors please do not drink), grape juice, lavender tea, cheese, and the “most wanted Hokkaido snacks” voted by fans—all specially flown in from Taiwan. There are only 200 seats available, so come join the experts for an unforgettable Hokkaido experience.
