In previous years, March and April were off-peak travel seasons for Chinese travelers, but this year, due to economic recovery and the extended Spring Festival holiday, many have postponed their vacations—resulting in higher tour package prices and airfares instead of discounts. Budget-conscious consumers can take advantage of summer’s biggest travel fair, the “2010 Taipei International Travel Fair,” to snag great deals. Featuring over 300 renowned exhibitors and approximately 650 booths, the event allows the public to book summer trips and even offers a chance to visit Disneyland USA for free!

The “2010 Taipei International Travel Fair” will be held from April 30 to May 3 for four consecutive days at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Exhibitors include airlines, major travel agencies, overseas tourism offices in Taiwan, as well as local government entities showcasing tourism operators, popular Taiwanese attractions, hotels, boutique inns, homestays, and local delicacies. The fair also promotes golden package tours and budget-friendly travel deals for popular domestic destinations. Visitors who purchase advance tickets at 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, or Books.com.tw across Taiwan before April 25 can enjoy a NT$50 discount.

This year’s Taipei International Travel Fair offers a triple gift bonanza. First: The first 1,000 visitors each day can choose one of three gifts—Vitalon Oolong Tea, Flying Leap Gum, or Lemon C Tablets. Second: The first 100 visitors purchasing tickets on-site can receive one movie exchange voucher for “My Mom My Hero 2.” Third: By entering the travel fair ticket lottery, participants can win nearly a thousand prizes, including daily airline ticket draws, and even a “3-Day, 2-Night Disneyland California Tour” sponsored by EVA Air and Shengda Travel Agency.

In line with the 2010 Shanghai Expo, Taipei Flower Expo, and the FIFA World Cup, the venue is creatively designed with sections like Shanghai’s Oriental Crown Dougong, Taipei’s Sky Lantern Pavilion, and an African Primitive Pavilion. For price-conscious travelers, deals include a “Shanghai Flight + Hotel 5-Day Package” at a rock-bottom price of NT$9,999, a “World Expo 5-Day Direct Flight” for just NT$15,900, and a “South Africa 10-Day World Cup Fever” package for NT$69,900. Domestic travel deals are also unbeatable, with 5-star hotels starting at 30% off, homestays for under NT$1,000, and themed day trips for just NT$499. The fair also features a variety of stage activities, such as travel expert talks, prize quizzes, meet-and-greets with travel stars, book signings by travel writers, Flower Expo doll appearances, NT$1 auctions for great deals, and travel product presentations.

Travelers looking to plan their trips can attend free travel product presentations, which will include sessions on Chongqing travel, “Hospitality Shandong Welcomes You,” “Visit Shanxi,” “Fun in Dali, Yunnan,” “The Beauty of Sichuan,” “Must-See Spots in Fujian,” “The Enchanting Appeal of Korean Travel,” “Great Places to Visit in Australia,” “Must-See Attractions in Malaysia,” “Yilan for Just NT$99,” “The Magical Disneyland USA,” and “Montana, USA,” among others. The event will also give out exquisite gifts and limited-edition souvenirs from various countries.
