Explore Green Expo Park and Luo Dong, and embark on a treasure hunt in Taiwan’s largest garden maze

The “Maze of Dreams,” inspired by Picasso’s famous work “The Dream,” uses over 130,000 plants and maintains over a million blooming flowers every day. To ensure the flowers bloom throughout the expo period, various construction and horticultural experts are employed, with over 30 personnel working daily. At the designated time each day, horticultural technicians shuttle in and out of the service passages behind the flower walls, tending to each flower to ensure its growth, so that every visitor to the Green Expo can enjoy the beautiful floral maze. This is the secret of the “straw-hatted figures” tumbling among the flowers and plants.

In addition to the enchanting garden maze, the Green Expo’s Waterfront Living exhibition area also features Taiwan’s largest green-carved waterwheel, recreating the rustic charm of traditional farming and fishing villages. The waterwheel not only symbolizes Yilan as a national model of leisure agriculture, but its rotation also brings abundant harvests and is believed to usher in good fortune. When walking through the Waterfront Living exhibition area, try tossing a NT$1 coin from one end of the waterwheel onto its blade grid to make it spin and fulfill your wishes. Additionally, in the Green Energy Experience Zone, many forms of green energy are displayed, such as the “Solar Cooker” that lets the sun cook your meal, the “Portable Energy Pack” serving as an instant power bank, and the “Portable Energy Backpack” for traveling with the sun. To allow the public to personally experience the convenience and benefits of green energy, the experience zone also features fun mini-games designed around green energy.

The “2010 Green Expo” has specially partnered with the Luodong Township Tourism Town Development Association in Yilan County to offer at least 600 great deals every day from now until May 9, including buy-one-get-one-free offers on food, accommodation, and local souvenirs. Visitors to the park can exchange for discount coupons by collecting commemorative stamps at the exhibition halls with their park map.
