The Jinghua branch’s lease has expired. Heshimeng: André Chiang has no plans to withdraw from Taiwan

French patisserie André Chiang was reported by employees to the media for laying off staff at the end of the year without providing severance pay. In response, Heshimeng Catering Group stated that the Jinghua branch would not renew its lease upon its expiration on December 31. However, the company offered Jinghua branch employees the opportunity to retain their original positions and salaries, with the option to transfer to other locations under the same brand, and there is no issue of layoffs or refusal to pay severance. For employees unwilling to transfer, both parties are currently engaging in labor consultations through the Taipei City Labor Bureau.

Since the Jinghua branch is currently the only outlet, does its closure mean André Chiang is withdrawing from Taiwan? Heshimeng stated that André Chiang’s online shopping operations and future business activities will continue, and there are currently no plans to withdraw from Taiwan. Regarding the employees’ claim that Heshimeng was fined by the Taipei City Labor Bureau, apart from Heshimeng’s denial, the Liberty Times also reported that the Labor Bureau did not penalize the Heshimeng Group for any violations of the Labor Standards Act.

Heshimeng Catering Group issues the following statement regarding the “report on André Chiang’s alleged withdrawal from Taiwan on 12/31 and employee disputes”:
1. André Chiang currently has no plans to withdraw from Taiwan. The original Jinghua branch’s lease expires on 12/31 and will not be renewed. André Chiang’s online shopping operations and future business activities will continue.

2. André Chiang offers Jinghua branch employees the opportunity to retain their original positions and salaries, with the option to transfer to other locations under the same brand, as well as the option to retain their original positions and salaries by transferring to other brands under the Heshimeng Catering Group.

3. Regarding future changes, some employees hold differing views, and both parties are currently undergoing relevant procedures with the appropriate authorities. Reports alleging malicious dismissals and non-payment of severance are inaccurate. Heshimeng Catering Group reserves the right to pursue legal action against false reports and statements.
