A Summer Fantasia at the Palace Museum: Enjoy Dance and Music, Savor Authentic Cantonese Cuisine

As one of the world’s top five museums and the most visited tourist attraction in Taiwan, the National Palace Museum houses a collection of over 600,000 priceless and fascinating Chinese cultural relics, surpassing even world-class museums. When international tourists visit Taiwan, the National Palace Museum is always on their must-see list. It is a source of pride for the people of Taiwan and one of the brightest cultural gems on the global stage.

Since the launch of the “Palace Museum Night Openings,” the museum is no longer limited to daytime visits, and many now specifically come to admire the Chinese imperial architectural style at night. The June “Palace Museum Night Openings” events include “Scenes from Southeast Europe” on June 5 from 18:00–19:30, featuring traditional music and dance from countries and regions such as Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Russia, and the Romani, offering a deeper insight into Southeast European folk traditions. On June 12 from 18:00–19:30, the National Chengchi University Chingshin Choir will perform in the “Palace Museum Choir Night.”

On June 5 from 18:00–19:30, the drum ensemble formed by Taipei Municipal Fangshan Junior High School will present “Summer Fragrance: A Drumming Appreciation,” showcasing traditional drumming artistry and promoting local traditional arts. On June 26 from 18:00–19:30, the rhythm band from Tamsui Dengong Elementary School in New Taipei City will perform “Summer Fantasia,” playing famous classical pieces that highlight the diversity and beauty of music. All events will take place at the outdoor plaza on the first floor, highlighting the talents of performing arts.

In addition to promoting artistic and cultural activities, the Palace Museum Gourmet within the museum complex has also become one of the most popular dining destinations for tourists visiting Taiwan since its opening. The museum’s Imperial Banquet, Tang Dynasty Imperial Feast, and Qing Dynasty Imperial Cuisine have always attracted food lovers who appreciate Chinese culture. From June 1 to August 31 this summer, in addition to the existing weekday all-you-can-eat dim sum lunch event, a new “Gourmet Cantonese All-You-Can-Eat” evening event will be offered from Sunday to Friday. Priced at NT$599 per adult (NT$349 for children), it features additional dishes for a luxurious Cantonese culinary experience.
