A Rare Summer Opportunity: National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium Recruiting Penguin Caretakers
Kenting in summer is not only a paradise for surfers but also an ideal destination for family summer trips. Aside from the diverse natural landscapes such as Longpan, Niao’bi Tou, She Di Park, and Kenting Forest Recreation Area, the coastal National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium is especially attractive to visitors of all ages. In celebration of “World Oceans Day 2010,” the aquarium has specially launched the “A Rare Summer: One-Day Penguin Caretaker” recruitment campaign along with a rich summer feast of activities, aiming to rekindle everyone’s love for the ocean through cool summer events.
The aquarium is like a living encyclopedia of the ocean.
Located in Checheng Township by the sea, the Pingtung National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium feels like stepping into a giant aquarium, where visitors become part of the underwater world. Enormous beluga whales, gracefully swaying seaweed, and other mysterious underwater scenes appear before your eyes from time to time, making it feel like a living ocean encyclopedia. The waddling penguins are the aquarium’s most popular stars.
The “A Rare Summer: One-Day Penguin Caretaker” recruitment campaign selects one lucky individual via online applications to become a one-day penguin caretaker at the museum, responsible for taking care of the daily life of the resident penguins.
The “A Rare Summer: One-Day Penguin Caretaker” selection campaign runs from now until 15:00 on July 8, with online registration. On July 16, five finalists will be announced, who will then attend a biological care training session and final selection at the aquarium from August 2 to 4. Finally, one caretaker will be chosen to work as a penguin caretaker for one day on August 4. The aquarium and its co-organizer, Sea View World Enterprise Co., have also prepared attractive gifts, including a one-day salary of NT$10,000, souvenirs, a one-year multiple-entry National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium Ocean Card, and an overnight stay at the aquarium.
The museum is filled with fish specimens everywhere.
During the summer vacation, various activities will be held, including children’s painting and clay creativity classes, night crab ecology exploration, river and sea ecology experience camps, and the National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium Children's Summer Camp.
