The Sweet Taste of Summer Love—Mangoes & Fruit Picking Fun in Xilaya

The Xilaya National Scenic Area spans an extremely vast area across 15 townships, featuring diverse terrain, abundant agricultural produce, and a rich cultural heritage of the Pingpu indigenous people. In particular, the Douliuzai Mango Zone in Yujing Township—the first place in Taiwan to successfully cultivate Irwin mangoes—is located here. To introduce Xilaya to the public, this year’s program integrates well-known local exhibitions and tourist attractions within the region, inviting people to take a break from their busy lives, visit Xilaya, relax, and experience rural culture and the area’s diverse natural scenery.

The "Love Mango" event includes a photography competition, mango picking experiences, Working Holiday programs, and mango sales, among other activities. The first phase will feature mango sales events held at the Tainan City Cultural Center on July 3, 4, 10, and 11. Visitors can sample fresh mangoes, mango shaved ice, dried mangoes, mango nougat, and other mango-themed products. A variety of fun activities are also available on-site, including paper clay craft workshops, creative markets, and country music performances—ensuring visitors to the Xilaya National Scenic Area leave with unforgettable memories.

The photography competition, themed around capturing the natural cloud formations and humanistic beauty of Yujing’s Douliuzai area, has an entry deadline of September 30. Photography enthusiasts of all nationalities and ages are welcome to participate. The top prize is NT$30,000 and a trophy. To promote the beauty of Xilaya to international friends, this year’s Working Holiday program also includes mango picking experiences, eco-guided tours, cloud-watching hikes up Douliuzai Mountain and Hutou Mountain, and other in-depth travel itineraries—helping to spread Xilaya’s glowing reputation worldwide.
