Fighting and beautifying at the same time！ The 2010 Boryeong Beauty Mud Festival kicks off on July 17
Aside from Thailand’s Songkran Water Festival and Spain’s La Tomatina, what other festival gets people—both locals and tourists—more excited the more they splash each other? This year marks the 13th edition of South Korea’s Boryeong Mud Festival, set to take place from July 17 to 25 at the Mud Square of Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province. The seven-day event is designed not only to get everyone in high spirits but also to deliver beauty benefits that leave your skin glowing and radiant.

The “2010 Boryeong Beauty Mud Festival” has expanded the self-mud-massage area this year, along with adding events such as the Mud Mob-scene and Mud Mannequin Contest. To further liven up the festive atmosphere, there will also be experiences like sliding down a mud-filled air cushion slide, street parades, and B-boy performances—nearly 55 exciting programs await visitors.
The mud used at the Boryeong Beauty Mud Festival is sourced from the clean tidal flats near Daecheon Beach. After removing various impurities, it undergoes processing to become premium mud powder. Rich in beneficial far-infrared rays and packed with rare trace elements, inorganic compounds, and bentonite, this mud offers excellent skincare effects. Rolling around in the mud helps wash away life’s accumulated stress. Loved by Koreans, it also attracts many international visitors eager to join in this unique celebration.

During the festival period, a variety of experience activities are available, including a large mud bath, mud wrestling, mud baseball, the Mud Prison, Mud Mannequins, Mud Handprints, making mud soap, and the Mud King Competition. There are also mud-based beauty products available as souvenirs, so beauty-loving travelers can keep enjoying the charm of the festival back home.
