As the countdown to the “2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition” draws nearer, various floral-themed events are adding more greenery to the streets of Taipei, transforming the city into an urban garden. Aside from engaging the public in beautifying the living environment, the Flora Expo’s longest-running, most frequent, and richest-content series of events ever — the “2010 Poetry & Floral Art” campaign — is kicking off promotional efforts across Taiwan. With a whopping total prize pool of $3 million, it aims to get everyone excited about the Flora Expo and showcase their artistic talents.

The “2010 Poetry & Floral Art” event features six major themes: “Starlight Poetry Celebrates the Flora Expo” includes competitions such as the Poetry King Challenge, Reading King Showdown, Starlight Floral Chorus, as well as performances and exhibitions; “Flocks of Birds Dance for the Flora Expo” showcases drama and dance performances; “Calligraphy Heritage Appreciates the Flora Expo” features creative calligraphy and painting exhibits, as well as chess competitions; “Riddle Fun Unlocks the Flora Expo” includes lantern riddles, five floral challenge levels, spring flower offering performances, and other activities; “Sounds & Blooms Capture the Flora Expo” encompasses painting contests, photography competitions, short film creation contests, theme film screenings, and floral art competitions; “Classical Streams and Poetry Honor the Flora Expo” presents performances of traditional Chinese instruments and recreations of classical ‘floating wine cups and poetry recitals.’
The “2010 Poetry & Floral Art” campaign is now launching promotional activities across Taipei, Central, Southern, and Eastern Taiwan. With six major activity themes, 145 award categories, 420 events, and a total prize pool of $3 million, it invites the public to join in the fun and showcase their talent at the Flora Expo. Winners may even get the opportunity to perform their skills at the Expo. Through monthly competitions and events with different themes, the campaign infuses the Flora Expo with a scholarly atmosphere, promotes the concepts of lifestyle and artistic heritage, and shapes a new cultural face for the city.
