Head to the largest shopping paradise—Seoul’s 2010 Promotion Season is now open for business!

To allow both Korean citizens and foreign tourists to more fully experience the atmosphere of “Seoul, the shopping paradise,” discounts of up to 60% off are being offered at over 5,000 stores that are popular with tourists—including shops, accommodations, dining, culture, beauty, and health-related businesses. In this year’s promotion season, Seoul has improved upon the inconvenience of using paper discount vouchers in the past by specially preparing a convenient shopping environment through the “International Visitor Membership Card,” “downloadable coupons,” and “mobile electronic coupons.” Both locals and foreigners holding promotion season coupons can enjoy famous restaurants and shopping experiences at discounted prices, and some restaurants even offer free drinks and desserts.

This year’s participating establishments include a wide range of over 20 types of shopping and consumption venues—such as well-known major corporations, department stores, duty-free shops, cafés, movie theaters, and museums—distributed across four special shopping districts including Myeongdong, Bukchang-dong, Namdaemun, Itaewon, Dongdaemun, Jongno, and Cheonggyecheon. There are also a variety of attractive cultural performances and tourist attractions such as the “Han River Water Taxi,” the “Nanta Show,” the “JUMP Show,” “Smile,” as well as Ssamziegil in Insadong. Additionally, benefits include preferential foreign exchange rates from banks and other perks from convenience stores.

From now until September 12th, various special events will be held in the special tourism districts and Myeongdong shopping streets. The “2010 Seoul Promotion Season” official website also provides 100% usage tips for coupons, maps of participating merchants, and other shopping secrets. Through shopping UCCs on YouTube, detailed shopping information is offered to help visitors fully enjoy the benefits of the shopping paradise.

Those wishing to receive the “International Visitor Membership Card + Seoul Shopping Season Shopping Guide” must enclose a 12 NTD stamp and one copy of their electronic flight ticket, and send it to the Korea Tourism Organization Taipei Branch (22F, No. 333, Sec. 1, Keelung Rd., Xinyi District, Taipei City, Room 2213), or contact the Korea Tourism Organization Taipei Branch at (02) 2720-8281. Limited quantities are available and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
