The 2010 Austronesian Ethnic Group Wedding kicks off in November
Have engaged couples this year planned how to organize the most important wedding of their lives? Why not opt for a special ceremony? The “2010 Austronesian Ethnic Group Wedding—Love Blossoms at the Paiwan 99th Wedding” will make a passionate return in November.
This year, in line with the Tourism Bureau’s “Travel Taiwan: 100 Touching Moments” campaign, the Maolin National Scenic Area Administration has chosen the traditional Paiwan Indigenous wedding as the main theme, aiming to promote local cultural tourism resources through the event. The initiative also incorporates distinctive homestays, dining, and local specialties to boost regional tourism development. The event will take place on November 5 and 6, 2010 (year 99 in the Republic of China calendar), at Sandimen Township, Pingtung County (Life Stage in Dremor Art Park). Priority for participation is given to unmarried adult male-female couples, and foreigners are also welcome. Couples married after August 1, 2010, are eligible to apply as the event features traditional Indigenous ceremonies, including a swing ride for the couple. To respect Indigenous culture and ensure safety, pregnant individuals are asked not to apply. A total of 24 couples will be selected.
Indigenous friends planning to wed this year or any couples—local or foreign—who appreciate Indigenous culture can start registering online from now via the event’s official website (http://www.maolin-nsa.gov.tw). Interested participants can click “Online Registration” on the homepage’s featured events section or call 08-7992221 ext. 246.
