Have you ever had the experience of eating Snoopy and Rilakkuma at the same time? At "Joyful Cafe" in Taichung City, you can try just that — savoring your favorite cartoon characters in edible form. With their super cute designs, you won’t want to finish them too quickly — your camera will definitely get to these treats before your mouth does!

“We hope every guest who comes here can be as pure and happy as Da Xi,” is the philosophy behind Joyful Cafe in Taichung. So who is Da Xi? Da Xi is a baby born in 2013 — a playful, carefree little kid. Thus, Da Xi’s parents decided to open this restaurant in 2014, hoping all visitors could feel the same simplicity and joy as Da Xi.

The interior is designed with wooden elements and accented by charming, colorful artwork, giving Joyful Cafe a playful atmosphere. Its small and warm ambiance is perfect for families, and the cafe offers many child-friendly utensils and high chairs. The kitchen is single-staffed with a counter, featuring a semi-open design where you can see Da Xi’s dad cooking diligently. In addition to meals and drinks, the cafe also sells snacks, candies, and even shoes — quite unique.

Joyful Cafe uses quality ingredients, carefully selecting fresh produce daily and never cutting corners on sauces, aiming to provide healthy and reassuring meals with the heart of a parent cooking for their own child. To try the Snoopy design, order the “Family Recipe Chicken Leg Curry Rice,” made with four types of curry, where sautéing Indian curry powder is the key step. Besides the curry, an assortment of colorful vegetables makes the dish vibrant, while king oyster mushrooms cleverly cut through the richness. Paired with tender chicken, it offers a rich yet refreshing texture. The “Red Wine Braised Beef Rice,” decorated with the Rilakkuma pattern, features a sweet flavor and moist rice, with big chunks of beef that melt in your mouth — a customer favorite.

Due to the limited space, Joyful Cafe only accepts same-day reservations for parties of eight or fewer. Lunch service ends at 2 PM, and dinner at 7:30 PM. Dishes are served in limited quantities, so those planning to visit should call ahead.
