Birthday celebrants born in September can visit the Chu Wei-Ying Museum of Art for free.
To celebrate the Chu Wei-Ying Museum of Art's 11th anniversary on September 19 this year, a special 11th-anniversary event has been organized. Those born in September can enter the museum for free and enjoy an art-filled birthday celebration. Starting from September 16, Chu Wei-Ying’s new work — “Humanity Series—Prisoners” will also be unveiled.
As it approaches its 11th year of opening, the Chu Wei-Ying Museum of Art is offering free admission to September-born celebrants for the first time. From September 1 to September 30, simply present an ID that proves your September birthdate — such as an ID card, student ID, or National Health Insurance card — to gain free entry. The upcoming “Humanity Series—Prisoners” by Chu Wei-Ying, premiering on September 16, explores philosophical themes. The exhibition will run from September 16 to August 28 next year. “Humanity Series—Prisoners” is a new work created by Chu Wei-Ying in 2009. After its debut at the National Art Museum of China in Beijing in July 2010, this marks its first presentation in Taiwan.
This series is an extension of Chu Wei-Ying’s evolving aesthetic philosophy. The three-piece set represents three vertical philosophies of life: the imprisoned, the one who is imprisoned, and the self-imprisoned. It interprets three scenarios, representing a process of multilayered contemplation — from realistic representation to symbolic concepts, and finally extending to abstract spiritual reflection.
A significant milestone in the 30-year development of the “Humanity Series,” “Humanity Series—Prisoners” presents a new creative vision that shifts from formal concerns to an exploration of inner human concerns. Through this exhibition, visitors can gain insight into the diverse evolution of Chu Wei-Ying’s artistry and the deepening of his aesthetic philosophy.
