Dragonair resumes flight services at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport
Traveling from Hong Kong to Shanghai is getting more convenient than ever before. Dragonair has announced that it will resume flight services to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on September 15, marking the first return to Hongqiao since October 2002 when flights were moved to Pudong. Dragonair will operate the route using Airbus A330 aircraft, offering one daily morning flight departing from Hong Kong.
Earlier this year, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Chinese mainland authorities successfully reached an agreement, subsequently announcing the addition of Shanghai Hongqiao as a scheduled air traffic point between the mainland and Hong Kong. Dragonair Chief Executive Officer,Conditions"Donald Tsang said, "We are very grateful to the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Chinese mainland authorities for implementing this new arrangement. We are delighted to resume flights to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, which is one of the busiest airports on the mainland."
Additionally, Donald Tsang emphasized that this resumption will allow Dragonair to further strengthen its flight services between Hong Kong and Shanghai, offering travelers between the Yangtze River Delta more choices and greater convenience. It will also help reinforce Hong Kong’s position as a key gateway city for the mainland.
Hongqiao International Airport is located in Shanghai's Puxi district, close to the city center and connected to an extensive transportation network, including high-speed rail. Dragonair has been operating scheduled charter flights to Shanghai since 1988. Currently, Dragonair operates 16 daily flights from Hong Kong to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, three of which are code-share flights operated by Cathay Pacific, a member of the group.
