Italy’s Florence IL SALVIATINO Gains International Recognition
The newly opened luxury hotel Il Salviatino in Italy has been internationally recognized as the latest masterpiece in Tuscany, earning several prestigious international awards for the world’s best new hotels in 2010. Originally a 15th-century noble villa, Il Salviatino is located in the hilltop town of Fiesole, just minutes from the center of Florence. It was recently featured on Condé Nast Traveller’s “Hot List 2010” among the “World’s 66 Best New Hotels.”
The 45-room Il Salviatino features the first European outpost of Thailand’s renowned Devarana Spa. It has also been nominated for Italy’s “Top Boutique Hotel” and Europe’s “Top New Hotel” at the World Travel Awards. In addition, Il Salviatino was listed in Travel + Leisure’s “It List” of the “45 Best New Hotels for 2010.” The magazine commented: “For years, the majestic Villa San Michele has been the go-to international luxury accommodation in Florence’s scenic hills, but with the arrival of Il Salviatino, Villa San Michele finally has some competition.”
The magazine added: “Hidden among Fiesole’s ancient cypress trees, this splendid 15th-century villa feels like a secluded paradise, with its meticulously restored gardens. The hotel seamlessly blends old-world charm with new-world comforts, creating a relaxed and elegant atmosphere—its wood-paneled library exudes grandeur, rooms display 17th-century oil paintings, and the terrace features white leather English classic sofas where guests can gaze at the iconic Florence Cathedral and enjoy sweeping views.”
The luxury travel magazine Luxury Travel Magazine also included Il Salviatino in its “World’s Best New Hotels 2009,” praising it for “boldly merging contemporary design and luxury taste with the historical essence of 18th and 19th-century Italy, bringing a historic architectural masterpiece back to life.”
