SONEVAFUSHI and SONEVAGILI Collaborate on Marine Conservation in the Maldives
Recently, SONEVA FUSHI and SONEVA GILI have collaborated to promote a marine conservation program in the Maldives and the International Literary Festival in October. Fabien Cousteau, the grandson of legendary oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, will spend a month at the flagship resort of Six Senses, Soneva Fushi. During his stay, guests will have the opportunity to dive and dine with him.
Fabien Cousteau, a 43-year-old oceanographer and filmmaker, aims to raise public awareness about the overuse of marine resources. His charity, “Plant A Fish” (www.plantafish.org), is collaborating with Soneva Fushi to explore fundraising initiatives. The proceeds will be used to restore marine populations in the Maldives, including a major lobster ecological rehabilitation project.
Additionally, the Maldives will host the world-renowned “Hay-on-Wye” literary festival for the first time from October 14 to 17. The event is sponsored by Soneva Fushi’s sister resort, Soneva Gili, and will take place on Aarah Island near the Maldivian capital, Male. Soneva Gili will also provide daily transportation services.
Furthermore, Soneva Gili will also host the closing event of the literary festival, where guests can meet renowned authors, including Jung Chang, author of "Wild Swans", Ian McEwan, author of "Atonement" (the novel on which the film "Atonement" is based), and several local Maldivian writers.
