Taiwan Mobile’s Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Music Concert will hold its third edition this year by the scenic lakes and mountains of Sun Moon Lake. Taiwan Mobile and the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration have invited renowned soprano Lin Hui-chen, who has shared the stage with José Carreras, and world-renowned tenor Xu Lin-qiang, who has performed in major opera houses globally. Also joining are acclaimed conductor Jiang Jing-bo and the L’Orchestra Moment Musical, who have frequently been invited to perform in Europe. Together, they will perform classic excerpts from Italian composer Puccini’s operas, including masterpieces such as “Turandot,” “Tosca,” “Madama Butterfly,” and “La Bohème.”

The Taiwan Mobile Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Music Concert will take place on October 9 at the Zhongxing Parking Lot in Sun Moon Lake, with the theme “Tribute to Puccini.” Composer Puccini was known for his nuanced musical portrayals of emotional shifts—for example, in the aria “One Fine Day” from “Madama Butterfly,” the lyrics express the heroine’s unwavering belief that her beloved will return, yet the music is steeped in tragic undertones, subtly hinting that it's merely self-consolation. Another famous piece, “Nessun Dorma” (from “Turandot”), moves from Prince Calaf’s low-pitched “None shall sleep” to the sweeping “I shall win!”—a melody utterly captivating. This aria is not only a signature song of the legendary tenor Pavarotti but also propelled British talent show winner Paul Potts to fame. The Three Tenors’ performance of this piece during the 1990 World Cup has made it an enduring global classic. In this concert, soprano Lin Hui-chen and tenor Xu Lin-qiang will sing both “One Fine Day” and “Nessun Dorma,” along with beloved love duets such as the tender “Ah, Sweet Maiden” and “Love Me Tenderly.”
