The Taipei International Travel Fair kicks off with great fanfare on November 5
The annual Taipei International Travel Fair opened today in grand style, with 60 countries and 1,200 booths participating—making it the biggest one yet. The discounts offered aren't only for accommodation but also include meal tickets and hot spring vouchers. It's expected to attract a large number of consumers to join in the celebration.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 5, President Ma Ying-jeou was also present to officiate and deliver a speech. Taiwan’s tourism industry has seen robust growth in recent years, which is reflected in the strong purchasing momentum at the travel fair. This year, accommodation vouchers are even being discounted by up to around 80%, and are bundled with hotel meals or other peripheral services, making them quite diverse.
Among the countries participating this year, first-time exhibitors include Saipan and Jordan. Taiwan’s tourism market has grown significantly by 20% from January to early September this year. The country with the most booths is Japan (94), followed by the Korea Tourism Organization (32), Tourism Malaysia (20), Hong Kong Tourism Board (14), the U.S. Pavilion (13), and the Macao Government Tourism Office (12).
The number of participating organizations at this year’s travel fair is the highest ever, with a total of 1,200 booths.
The fair runs from November 5 to November 8. Full-price tickets are NT$200, with the following opening hours: Nov 5 (12:00–18:00), Nov 6–7 (10:00–18:00), and Nov 8 (10:00–18:30). The public can take a free shuttle bus from Exit 3 of Taipei City Hall MRT Station, with buses running approximately every 10 to 15 minutes.
